Central Coating Company

Central Coating Company was founded in 1958 by John P. Nolan. While attending Iowa State University and the University of Iowa, John worked summers painting farm buildings and eventually grain elevators. John P. Nolan and Central Coating Company became know for its quality work and soon the company was sandblasting and painting large tank farms throughout the United States. In 1967, Central Coating Company relocated to California and installed its first Sprayed Polyurethane Foam roof at Allied Chemical Company in Port Chicago, CA. In time, Central Coating began to specialize in insulating tanks and warehouses for the wine industry, working in the Napa, Sonoma and Central San Joaquin Valleys.

A large contract with United Vintners (now Constellation Wines) brought Central Coating Company to Madera, California in 1970, which became the company’s headquarters. To service the growing computer industry in the Silicon Valley, in 1982 Central Coating Company established an office in San Jose, CA and began installing roofing and insulation for many of the top high tech companies in Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay area.

Luke Nolan joined Central Coating in 2004 and succeeded his father to the presidency of Central Coating in 2009. He is a graduate of the University of Southern California.

As of 2017, Central Coating Company crews have installed over 60,000,000 square feet of SPF Roofing and insulated more than 2,500 cold storage tanks, cold rooms and freezer facilities with sprayed polyurethane foam and elastomeric coatings.

Central Coating Co Inc. is an award-winning company, recognized by the Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance (SPFA) with its National Award for Excellence in 2005, 2007 & 2016. The company is a member of SPFA, the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA), and Roofing Contractors Association of California.
